X was created by Dr. Light. He was put into a hibernation mode until he was found and awakened. He then began to fight an evil virus named Sigma who could turn reploids evil. These evil reploids are known as mavericks. X, Zero, and Axl fight these mavericks while trying to find a way to defeat Sigma once and for all.
